With over fifteen years of experience in jewellery design, Kajsa is a highly creative designer with the ability to understand needs and develop visions and concepts. Her experience implies insights on different types of jewellery genres, as well as on a variety of manufacturing processes. Inspiration comes as much from jewellery history as from street- and high fashion. Her interest and expertise ranges from the unique, handmade to the mass-produced but always with qualitative form and craftwork in focus. Kajsa has work experience both as employee and on consultant-based projects. She has also started up two jewellery concepts/companies.
With over twenty years of experience in jewellery design, Kajsa (Öberg) Avila has experimented with different types of jewel and accessory genres, as well as varieties of material, making, and production processes, developing visions, concepts, and prototypes for own and others’ collections. Inspiration comes as much from jewellery history as from street- and high fashion, but especially from everyday life, politics, and the empathy they spark.
Her interest and expertise ranges from the unique, handmade to the mass-produced but always with qualitative form and craftwork in focus. After finishing her MFA in Metal design at Konstfack University of Art, Craft and Design in 2004, Kajsa started up Dada's Diamonds (together with Ida Forss), which received the Rookie of the year price from The Swedish Fashion Council 2006.
Between 2008-2012 she worked at H&M’s Divided accessories design team. Since 2013 Kajsa has been working as free-lance designer and consultant, developing, among others, the first series of accessory and jewellery collections for Skultuna mässingsbruk.
Sign Collection is the first collection jewellery in her own name. Kajsa Avila works from her studio located in Gustavsberg, Värmdö outside Stockholm, Sweden.
